DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women’s soccer team kept up its undefeated conference record defeating Crown College by a final score of 3-0 to cap off a two win alumni weekend.

CSS scored its first two goals relatively early in the first half.  First Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) buried a shot home just 13:26 into the game on assists by Kehtel and Kirsten Olsen (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS ), then, barely two minutes later Kehtel scored her first goal of the game taking a pass from Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) sparking the breakaway goal.

The Saints outshot Crown 13-0 in the first half while taking three corner kicks to zero for Crown.

The second half of the match saw CSS outshoot Crown 10-4, and also saw Kehtel’s second goal of the game and seventh of the season. This goal came on an assist by Leah Hamm (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) with just under 30 minutes remaining in the match.

That goal would be the last scored in the game as CSS would take the match from Crown College 3-0.

Kehtel’s seven goals are good enough to place her third on the UMAC leaderboard. Britton ‘s first period assist also solidified her spot in first place in the conference with seven on the season. Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) made two saves to earn the shutout.

St. Scholastica (5-5, 5-0 UMAC) will look to continue its excellent conference play when it hosts Martin Luther College next Friday at Saints Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
