It seemed like a close battle through the early stages of Friday nights Tigers and Mariners match-up, as the Cherry Tigers made it a football game against Silver Bay. Some costly mistakes and a number of big plays created by the Mariners offense turned as a 14-0 game into a 28-0 contest by halftime.
Sophomore quarterback Hunter Monson threw three touchdown passes and ran in a 1-yard touchdown run to lead the visiting Mariners to their first Big North victory.
Cherry, which has just 14 players on the team, was hurt again by injuries in the game, cutting even more into the limited depth on the Tiger roster.
Cherry falls to 0-5 for the season, and will take on Northeast Range next week.
