ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women’s soccer team took down the University of Northwestern in a 3-0 conference game at Reynolds Field on Saturday afternoon.

A stonewall performance from goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS ) and her defense fueled Scholastica’s third conference win this season. Reeves only had to save one shot on Saturday to shutout the Eagles.

On the other side of the field, CSS’s offense bombarded the Eagles net to score three goals. Jalyn Britton (Eagan, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) shot four times all match and put both of her shots on goal in the net for two of the three Scholastica goals. Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) assisted Britton with her first goal the first goal of the game while Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) chipped in with Britton’s second goal and for Scholastica’s third tally. Angie Toepper (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) scored the second goal of the game for the Saints and was assisted by Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS).

Scholastica had 20 shots on goal while shooting 37 times total. The offensive raid resulted in three goals and three assists. Saturday’s win improves Scholastica’s record to 3-5 overall and 3-0 in the UMAC.

Northwestern’s goalkeeper Miranda Carda battled hard with 17 saves but gave up three goals. The Eagles’ offensive attack struggled on Saturday and only had three shots total in the competition. Only one of those three shots was on goal. Jordin Skarin had the only on goal shot in the match while Sydney Narloch and Jenna Powers each tried their hand at a shot. Northwestern’s record falls to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the UMAC.
