NSO – NEWS RELEASE

Despite a gritty, come-from-behind overtime road win at Augustana College two days ago, the University of Minnesota Duluth fell one spot to No. 4 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II poll.

The Bulldogs, who are off to a 2-0 start this fall, trailed Northwest Missouri State University (769 points and 25 first-place votes), Colorado State University-Pueblo (748 pts. and the remaining six first-place votes) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference colleague Minnesota State University-Mankato (685 pts.), which leapfrogged over UMD (670 pts) after being slotted fourth one week ago. St. Cloud State University (No. 19) and Winona State University (No. 24) were the two other NSIC clubs to crack this week’s Top 25.  UMD will pay a visit to Winona State on Sept. 27 and to St. Cloud State two weeks later.

The six-time defending NSIC North Division champion Bulldogs have appeared in every AFCA II poll since Aug. 12, 2008 and haven’t been knocked out of the Top 15 in over six years (a run that started on Sept. 8, 2008).
