ST. PETER, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men’s soccer team wasn’t able to keep up the win streak, which was currently at three, and fell 3-0 to Gustavus Adolphus Friday.

The Saints came into Friday’s game looking to extend their win streak to four by taking down a tough Gustavus Adolphus team.

With the Saints having a balance scoring attack so far this year, opponents prior to the Gusties were having trouble locking them down and stopping CSS from scoring. Gustavus seemed to have things in order Friday night however, as they shutout the Saints with a final of 3-0.

The first goal came in the first half from Gusties’ Zach Brown in the 22nd minute. About a minute later, Charlie Crane (Southampton, England/Brockenhurst College) of the Saints received a red card, causing the Saints to play a man short the remainder of the game.

Gustavus took advantage of the Saints being down a man by adding two more goals in the second half while their goalkeepers Braden Schmid and Brett Ylonen played a half a piece and didn’t allow a goal.

The Saints most active player in the game was freshman Jonny Winter (Healthfield, England/Healthfield Community College), who recorded two shots on goal for a team high.

The men’s soccer team will travel to Northland College this upcoming Tuesday for its next game. The game time is set at 4:15 and will be the first conference game for the Saints this year
