UMD Men’s C.C. Starts Friday

The University of Minnesota Duluth will open the 2014 men’s cross country season this Friday afternoon (Sept. 12)  at Minnesota State University-Moorhead’s Randy Smith Invitational in Glyndon, Minn.

The 2014 Bulldogs are well-stocked with veterans as 11 lettermen return. That includes all seven runners who competed in last year’s NCAA Division II Central Region Championships — seniors Dan Nielsen, a 2013 All-Region honoree, and Mitch Zuidema, juniors Joey Erickson, Mitch Fisher, Drew Johnson (captain) and Ted Heikkila, and sophomore Seth Hare. UMD was tabbed to place third in the annual Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Poll.

Paul Nisius, who is embarking on his fifth season as UMD’s head coach, sat down with umdbulldogs.com to talk about his troop’s prospects for 2014.
