Floodwood defeats McGregor

The Floodwood Polar Bears knocked off the McGregor Mercuries in a polar league volleyball match-up Tuesday night at McGregor High School.

McGregor won the first game of the match 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead, the Polar Bears responded taking the second and third games of the set before the Mercuries tied it winning the fourth game 25-23.

The Polar Bears came back strong in the last game of the set as the pulled away with a 15-8 victory to take the match three games to two.

Megan Aho finished with 15 kills to lead the Polar Bears, Marissa Johnson added 6 ace serves and she had 20 digs in the victory while Brenna Salo finished with 36 set assists.

Amy Gelhar had 18 kills 15 digs, and 2 ace servers for the Mercuries, Shelby Kelley added 6 ace serves, 5 kills, 20 set assists, and 10 digs and Lacey Baker ended with 15 set assists and 7 digs.

The Polar Bears even their season record to 1-1 on the season and they will be in action again next Thursday when they host Silver Bay, the Mercuries start the season 0-1 and they will face the Rangers of Crosby-Ironton in Crosby next Tuesday night.
