As neighborhood rivalries go the Esko vs Cloquet-Carlton girls soccer match is always among the best in the area.  Both teams have a strong history of being among the top northeastern Minnesota teams.  On Tuesday night the Lumberjacks used back-to-back goals to notch a 1-0 win at Rol Bromberg Field in Cloquet.

The Eskomos got things started in the scoring column in the 23rd minute when Ava Gonsorowski scored in just the second minute of the game.  Unfortunately for Esko that was the only goal they would score off the Jacks, and CEC goalie Ali Chalberg, the rest of the game.

Cloquet-Carlton evened the score in the 23rd minute when Kayla Baker slammed home a marker to make it 1-1.

The Lumberjacks scored the game winner in the 59th minute when Baker kicked in her second goal of the game.

Chalberg finished with eight saves on nine shots for the Jacks, while Macy Sunnarborg finished with 10 saves on 12 shots by Cloquet.
