The Section 7A looks to be very competitive this season in girls soccer, with a lot of teams looking for a repeat of last season. NSO will go in depth on the top area teams of the section.

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters are going for their second consecutive Section 7A championship in 2014 and it will be led by a large Junior group after they graduated 9 seniors. The Hunters posted a 13-4-3 record last season and will look to improve on that. They will open up their season against Forest Lake on August 21st at home.

The Hermantown Hawks had a successful season which consisted of being Section 7A runners-up with a 14-2-3 record. They will return everyone except for 3 seniors that graduated and they will rely on that experience to get them back into the Section finals. They open up the season on August 22nd against Chisago Lakes on the road and will host their first home game the next day against Rosemount.

The Proctor Rails posted a 10-9 record this past season and will look to improve on that after graduating 9 players from last seasons roster. The Rails will not open their season until August 28th when they host the Hermantown Hawks.

The Cloquet/Carlton Lumberjacks will look to make another trip down to the State Tournament as they did in 2012. The Lumberjacks hope to improve on their 7-10-1 record. They graduated 7 key players off their roster so they will rely on a large Junior and Sophomore group as they will only have 2 seniors. They open their season up on August 22nd hosting the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers.

Duluth Marshall looks to improve on last seasons 8-10 record. The Hilltoppers lost 7 key players off of last years team, but will be determined to advance deep into the playoffs. The Hilltoppers open their season up against the Lumberjacks and will not host their first home game until August 26th when they host the Hermantown Hawks.

The Esko Eskomos posted a 7-9-2 record last season and will hope to get above .500 this season with graduating 7 seniors. Their roster will consist of only one Senior and a large bunch of Juniors and Sophomores. They open their season up against Rosemount on August 22nd at home.
