With scrimmages underway, NSO will take a look into local teams in the area.

The Carlton Bulldogs, who graduated one player, will look to take home another Section 7A title, which would be their 4th since 2003. The Bulldogs had a dominating 26-7 record last season, which started with a 16 game winning streak before dropping a game. The Bulldogs open their season up on the road against Deer River on August 26th. They will host their first home game in a Section 7A rematch against the McGregor Mercs on September 4th.

The McGregor Mercuries hope to have another successful season, ending last year with a 20-8 record and as the Section 7A runners-up. The Mercs graduated 7 players off last years roster, but will rely on their youth to bring them back to the Section finals. The Mercuries open their season up against the Floodwood Polar Bears at home on August 26th.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks, who ended their season as the Section 7AA runners-up with a 22-8 record, looks to better last season by making the trip to the State Tournament. The Lumberjacks graduated just 3 seniors and look to be strong again this season. The Lumberjacks open their season up against the Duluth East Greyhounds on August 26th on the road. They play at home on September 4th against Eveleth-Gilbert.

The Hermantown Hawks will look to secure another top seed in this years Section 7AA playoffs after graduating 6 seniors. The Hawks went 22-7 last season and hope to repeat that. They open their season up against Duluth Marshall on August 22nd and will have their home opener against Esko on August 26th.

The Eskomos from Esko had a 19-9 record last season and will look to improve that. After graduating 3 seniors, their roster looks to have a lot of experience. Esko opens their season up at home against the Wrenshall Wrens on August 20th.
