Conklin Named to Minnesota Select Team

Brandon Conklin of Cloquet has been selected to Team Minnesota following a tryout on June 24th and 25th at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville which featured more then 200 participants trying out for team Minnesota.

Showcase Sports held the tryout and there were over 200 participants that went through various drills as they tried to earn one of the 14 spots on the Team Minnesota Roster.

The skills portion of the tryout included positioning skills, as well as running, pitching and each player and there at bats, and how they were rated at each position.

Brandon along with 13 others will participate in a round robin tournament beginning  August 4th through the 6th in Illinois where Team Minnesota will face several other states including West Virgina, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio and more as every player there will be under the watchful eye of Professional scouts and college scouts from more then 50 colleges.

Conklin a senior to be at Cloquet High School helped led the Lumberjacks to a section runner up this past season and is currently playing summer baseball with the Duluth Express, as Brandon continues to broaden his baseball skills.

Brandon has not chosen a college yet but has received interest from North Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha, NDSU, UMD, and others and his exposure will continue at this national tournament.

Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate Brandon Conklin for being  named to Team Minnesota. Ben Humbert of International Falls was also chosen to team Minnesota.
