On a cool and wet Saturday in Zimmerman Minnesota the section 7AA boys and girls sectional track meet was concluded with several local athletes quailifing for the state Track meet at Hamline University next week in St. Paul.

Lucy Robb of Duluth East qualified in three events winning all three including the 100 meter hurdles as well as the 300 hurdles. Robb along with Madeline Fontaine, Abby Holak, and Ava Meyer also captured first place in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks Maija Doran will go to state with a second place finish in the 200 meter dash, Maija just missed qualifying in the 100 meter dash as she was edged out by 1 – 100th of a second as she placed third overall.

Cloquet will have two representatives at the state track meet, Evan Ericson placed second in the discus, and Richmond Semu was second in the boy’s 200 meter dash.

Connor Behm of Duluth Denfeld will compete in the 400 meter dash with a second place finish at sections and Hermantown’s Kenechukwu Udejiofor won the triple jump Saturday afternoon.

Forest Lake won the girls section title with 121 overall points, North Branch was second, and it was St. Francis third. Duluth East placed seventh with 46 points, Cloquet was eighth with 43, and Hermantown was 14th with 10 points.

  Andover captured the boys title with 90 ½ points, St. Francis placed second with 68 ½, and North Branch placed third and had 67 total points. Cloquet was seventh with 48, Denfeld was eighth with 40, Hermantown was 10th with 36 points, & Duluth east placed 12th with 29 overall points.
