Duluth East Tops Grand Rapids In Tennis

The Duluth East Greyhounds and Grand Rapids Thunderhawks battled on the tennis courts Tuesday evening, with the Greyhounds winning the overall matches 5-2.

The evening kicked off with Singles action as Gus Fedji-Johnson from Grand Rapids took down Duluth East’s Martin Schnieder 6-3 and 6-2. Grand Rapids would win the next Singles match as Ian Pallin defeated Ryan Aturaylia 6-5 and 6-2, but the Greyhounds would bounce back when Elliot Schneider defeated Coleton Anderson 6-0 and 7-6. East’s Luke Hietala would follow that win with a 6-0 win in both sets over Lars Anderson.

Duluth East would sweep the nights doubles matches, starting with Andrew Zimmerman and Mark Holliday taking down Cam Dulong and Mitch Mattson 7-5 and 6-0. Will Heyer and Derek Boesse were next in line for a win, as the would beat Alex Adams and Eric Soderburg 6-1 in both sets. The night would end with Eric Patterson and EJ Hietala defeating Austin Tatter and Isaac Hemmila 6-4 and 6-1 to secure the overall win for the Greyhounds.
