Denfeld Hunters Off To 2-2 Start

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters have played 4 games since April 10th, which consisted of 2 double headers. In their season opener on April 10th, they played Irondale and Princeton. In their second double header of the season, on April 12th, they played Grand Rapids and Cambridge-Isanti.

The Hunters would fall to Irondale by a 2-1 score. Denfelds Ashley Taipale took the loss with only surrounding 2 hits and striking out 6. Alexia Klass would go 2 for 4 while tallying their only RBI of the season. Janelle Bushey also had a double in the loss.

Following their loss to Irondale, the Hunters would topple the Princeton Tigers 11-4. Ashley Taipale would take home the victory in this game, throwing a one hitter and striking out 6 in 4 innings pitched. Lexi Hill would lead the offense, going 3 for 5 including a triple while driving in 3. Alexia Klaas also had a nice outing, going 3 for 4 with one double and one RBI. Also having strong outings was Ciarra Taipale and Gabby Nordman. Taipale went 3 for 5, hitting a double, and tallying 3 RBI’s and Nordman would go 2 for 4 in the win.

On April 12th, Duluth Denfeld would kick the day off with a 6-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks. Ashley Taipale would secure the victory pitching 7 innings, striking out 7, and only walking 2. Madison White went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, Crystal McClarey would hit a double while going 2 for 3. Also in the win was Lexi Klaas who notched a double and a stolen base and Ashley Taipale who drove in one run while hitting a double.

Following the win against Grand Rapids, the Hunters would fall to Cambridge-Isanti 9-4. No box score was submitted.

The Hunters start their season 2-2 and will hopefully be back in action on April 17th against the Duluth East Greyhounds with first pitch starting at 4:30.
