Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Jessica Lindstrom: Superior Spartans Senior helped lead the Spartans to a second place finish in the state Division One playoffs this season.

Jessica who had several offers from several division one colleges including Wisconsin, Marquette, Drake and North Dakota decided she will attend Wisconsin-Green Bay next year.

Jessica averaged 21.2 points per game this season, had a game high of 35 against Esko earlier this year. Lindstrom also averaged 17. 2 rebounds as well for the Spartans this season. Jessica was also named the Wisconsin’s states top post player this year by Whitefish Bay ranking service.

Megan Aho – Floodwood a sophomore guard for the upstart Polar Bears this season. Megan averaged 16 points per game for a young rebuilding Floodwood team.

Ashley Bergerson – Esko, Ashley helped lead the Eskomos to a third place finish in the girls state basketball tournament this season, Ashley led the Eskomos in 3- pointers as well as rebounding.

Shania Bolen – Hermantown, a sophomore guard who can do it all on the court. A defensive terror as well as a player with a fine shooting touch, she finished shooting 76% from the free throw line.

Allie Cahoon – Cromwell a senior guard for the Cromwell Cardinals led the Cardinals in scoring this season as she averaged 17.8 points per game.

Alyssa Correll – Superior Spartans, another Spartan who helped Superior to the State title game this season. Alyssa averaged 13.3 points per game and shot 38% from three-point land.

Ava Gonsorowski – Esko – freshman point guard who stepped into a leadership role this season as the Eskomos point guard, her leadership helped the Eskomos to a third place finish.

Carly Hanson- Hermantown – Carly was a senior forward for the Hawks this season who had several roles for the Hawks this season. Carly finished the season averaging 13.4 points per game.

Abby Hawkinson- McGregor – Abby was chosen as the Polar League’s player of the year this season, she also set the all-time scoring record for McGregor boys or girls.

Lexi Hill – Duluth Denfeld – senior forward for the Hunters averaged over 12 points per game this season and was the hunters leading rebounder.

Lauren Hultgren – Barnum- Lauren Hultgren helped to lead the Bombers to a section 7AA championship match-up with the Esko Eskomos, Lauren was Coach Moench’s top defensive player.

Justice Janke – South Ride – Justice is a quiet floor leader for the Panthers this season, she was one of the Panthers top rebounders this year.

Hannah Johnson – Duluth East – Hannah was the Greyhounds top all-around players this season, Hannah averaged 16.2 points per game and grabbed over 10 rebounds per game.

Adri Jusczak – MLWR – Adri a floor leader for the Rebels this season, averaged 18.3 points per game for the Rebels, and was the team’s top rebounder averaging 7 per game.

Hailey Kontny – Superior – another Spartan who helped Superior to a second place finish the season averaging 19.4 points per game and shot over 52% for the floor.

Emily Neumann – Hermantown – Senior forward for the Hermantown Hawks was named to the all-conference team in the Lake Superior Conference, and was one of the Hawks top scorers this season.

Mikayla Olesiak – South Ridge- Mikayla a junior guard on a young Panther team, was one of the top scorers for the Panthers this season as she ran the Panther offense.

Kassidy Steen – Cloquet – Kassidy a sophomore post for the Lumberjacks became one of the area top low post players. Kassidy averaged 18.8 points per game and pulled down over 11 rebounds per contest.

Lane Schraufnagel – Two Harbors – senior forward for the Agates averaged 10.7 points per game while pulling down almost 9 rebounds per game.

Eva Reinertson – Lakeview Christian Academy- Eva a sophomore forward for the Lions this season averaged 21.5 points per game 16 rebounds and 8 assists per game.

Sammy Zeadow – Cloquet – Sammy a senior forward for the Lumberjacks did it all for Cloquet, Coach Ojanen said of Zeadow she’s one of the hardest workers on the team, she does all the small things that help our team.
