Wildness Close out Season on a Roll

The Minnesota Wilderness finished off their regular season Saturday night as the Wilderness defeated the Minnesota Magicians by a score of 4-2, that win was coming off a 3-2 shoot out victory over Coulee Region in Friday night in  Onalaska Wisconsin at the Omni Center.

 

The Wilderness finished the season as one of the hottest teams in the NAHL; went 8-2 over their last ten games including winning the last six straight.

 

Darian Romanko and Ivan Chukarov scored goals in regulation Friday night to put the Wilderness in front 2-1, but a late game tying goal by the Chill sent the game to overtime.

 After a scoreless over time stanza the Wilderness saw the game winning shootout winner come from Tyler Hart to give the Wilderness the 3-2 victory. Romanko scored the first goal in the shootout for Minnesota.

 

Saturday night saw the Wilderness storm out to a 3-0 lead before the Magicians bounced back to cut the lead at 3-2, before Will Peterson scored his second goal of the game, an empty netter to seal the victory.

 

Daniel Litchke, Will Peterson and Romanko put the Wilderness in front 3-0 after two periods Saturday, before the Magicians late comeback. Kasimir Kaskisuo was the winning goaltender Friday stopping 38 of 40 shots he faced, and Frank Oplinger got the victory Saturday with 34 saves on the evening.

 

The Wilderness finishes the regular season with an overall record of 37-14-9 for a total of 83 points the fourth best point total in the NAHL. The Wilderness will open the home playoff season on Aril 4th when they will face the Wenatchee Wild at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.
