Player of the Year

bb-esko-barnum-4306 (426x640)Kory Deadrick: Kory Deadrick joins a list of players who have been named NSO’s Player of the Year including Chad Calcaterra, Jackson Lindquist, Kolten Karppinen, Cory Kucza, and now for the second consecutive season Deadrick is NSO’s Player of the Year. Deadrick a senior forward for the Eskomos set numerous records enroute to back to back state tournament appearances including the state Championship this season.

Deadrick averaged almost 26 points per game this season, as he became the Eskomos all-time leading scorer with 1928 points.

                    

Kory also set Esko records for points in a season with 809, career rebounds with 907, also holds the season record for rebounds with 344 which he set last season. Kory also shares the record for most free throws made in a season with 117.

Kory was selected as the Polar League MVP, named to the MBCA all-star series, was all state academic basketball team. Kory will continue with his basketball next year at St. Thomas University. NSO would like to congratulate Kory on a fine career and best of luck in the future!

                          

 

NSO All Area Team

Riley Brensdorf – Floodwood, Riley helped lead a young Polar Bear team to an overall record of 18-7 on the season, Riley finished averaging over 19 points per game.

Bjorn Broman- Lakeview Christian Academy averaged over 41 points per game this season, and moved over 2000 career points this year.

Trevontae Brown – Fond du Lac, Trevontae helped lead the Ogichida to 4th in the boys’ basketball tournament and tied the tourney record for three pointers in one game with 10.

Travis Carlson – Proctor, junior guard for the Proctor Rails finished the 2013-2014 season averaging over 20 points per game this season.

Zac Carlson – Barnum, senior guard for the Barnum Bombers provided a lethal 1-2 punch alongside Brandon Newman, Carlson helped the Barnum to a 26-3 record.

Willow Christensen – Floodwood, Willow was a floor leader for the Polar Bears this season, Willow could bang inside on the boards or hit the long range jump shot.

Jordan Diver – sophomore shooting guard for the Fond du Lac Ogichida finished the season averaging 23 points per game and was a key cog for the Ogichida and their trip to state.

Brad Fossum – MLWR, Brad a three sport standout led the Rebels this season with 18 points per game, while dishing out 3 assists and 3 steals per game.

Dominic Janke – Dominic a senior forward for the senior led Panthers played some of his best basketball of the season during the section 7A Playoffs.

Dillon Johnson – Cloquet, Dillon a four year starter for the Lumberjacks came up just shy of 1000 points for his career as a knee injury had him sidelined ½ his senior season.

Kody Karppinen – South Ridge, was 1 of 5 seniors on a Panther team which finished 2nd in the 7A playoffs. Kody led comebacks in the section games with several key 3-pointers.

Jarred Kittle – Wrenshall, a senior forward who averaged almost 20 points per game this season, while helping Wrenshall to their most wins in several seasons.

Adam Laine – Cloquet, Adam a four year starter for the Lumberjacks became Cloquet’s all-time leading scorer while helping Cloquet reach the state tournament.

Thomas Madison – Sophomore guard for the Hermantown Hawks who came of age in the section 7AAA loss to Cloquet where he connected for 29 points in the loss.

Brandon Newman – junior guard for the Barnum Bombers averaged 26 points per game, shot .646 from the field, he averaged 5 assists and 4 steals per game.

Colton Peterson – South Ridge Panthers senior forward was a strong inside threat for the Panthers as well as a player who could connect on a short range jump shot.

Marc Peterson – Esko, Marc helped led the Eskomos to two consecutive state basketball tournaments, Marc broke the Eskomos all time record for three-pointers.

Casey Staniger – Esko, Casey a soft shooting guard for the Eskomos who reached 1000 points this season, finishing with 1249 points for his career.

Davonte Williamson – Fond du Lac, a high flying forward for the Ogichida brought many fans to their feet this year with his array of dunks, while averaging 25 ppg along the way.

Kole Zuidmulder – junior post for the Hermantown Hawks was named to the Lake Superior Conference all first team this season. Kole is a three sport standout as well.
