“Pride of the Northeast” Coca-Cola All-Star game set for tomorrow night

VIRGINIA, Minn. — The 2014 Coca-Cola “Pride of the Northeast” All-Star Game will take place tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 18th at the William Wirtanen Gymnasium at Mesabi Range College in Virginia, Minnesota.

There is no shortage of local talent who will take to the hardcourt; the list of seniors is a virtual who’s who of Iron Range basketball players.  The event is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the games vie some of the best high school seniors from northeast Minnesota against each other in a pair of back-to-back, high energy games.

Game one will tip off at 6:00 p.m. and will feature Red #1 Vs. White #1.

Red Team #1 consists of Barnum Bomber Zachary Carlson; Virginia Blue Devil’s Bryce Negen, Cal Amberg, and Jacob Quick; and Mark Heiman, Sean Jordan, Justin Poderzay, and Matt Vanderbeek from the Ely Timberwolves.

They will take on White Team #1 consisting of Cloquet Lumberjack’s Max Brenner, Dillon Johnson, and Jake Bushey; Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears Austin Hujanen, Jake Laeupple, and William Olson; and Tim Bukovich and Bryan Clement from the Cherry Tigers.

White Team #1 will be coached by Eveleth-Gilbert’s Head Coach Mike Aro.

Game two will follow at 7:30 p.m. featuring Red #2 Vs. White #2.

Red Team #2 will include Fond du Lac Ogichidaag’s Trevontae Brown; South Ridge Panther’s Dominic Janke, Colton Peterson, and Kody Karppinen; Hibbing Bluejacket’s Andy Rudberg and Tyler Jerkovich; and Aaron Musburger and Mitch Rusten from the Chisholm Bluestreaks.  

Red Team #2 will be coached by Earl Otis, Head Coach for the  Fond du Lac Ogichidaag.

Red will take on White Team #2 consisting of Proctor Rail Henry Habermann; Littlefork-Bigfalls Vikings Taylor DeLack and Jacob Franz; Northwoods Grizzly Elija Halverson; Two Harbors Agate Kyle Omtvedt; Bigfork Husky Andrew Anderson; Grand Rapids Thunderhawk Evan Reitter; International Falls Bronco Cody Hallin; and Nate Nelson from Hinkley-Finlayson.

White Team #2 will be coached by Tom Nelson, Head Coach for the Two Harbors Agates.
