The Section 7A boys championship game between the Fond du Lac Ogichida and South Ridge Panthers had the gym at Duluth Denfeld packed from top to bottom, with over 2,000 fans in attendance. The Ogichida would find themselves on the winning side in the match up, winning 77-60 to advance to their first ever State tournament.

The Ogichida held a slight 28-26 lead at the half but turned things up in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 49-34 behind Davonte Williamson and Cameron Thompson who took over in the 2nd half for Fond du Lac. The Ogichida also took advantage of several Panthers miscues which led to fast breaks to propel them to the win.

Williamson led the Ogichida to the victory, scoring 18 of his 26 points in the 2nd half. Cameron Thompson followed him with 20 points on the night, 13 coming in the 2nd half. Dexter Delille pitched in 11 in the victory, Jordan Diver notched 9, Bruce Martineau tallied 7, and Trevontae Brown rounded out the victory with 4.

The Panthers were led by Dominic Janke and Colton Peterson who each scored 14 in the hard fought battle. Janke would hit his 1,000th career point late in the game after teammate Zach Johnson refused to go into the game for him, so that he could hit his well deserved milestone. Following Janke and Peterson was Kody Karpinnen with 13 points, Bill Redding and Drew Janke with 9 a piece, and Kaleb Dallmann topping it off with 1.

The Panthers end their season with a 23-4 record and as the Section 7A runners-up. The Ogichida improve to 24-3 and extend their winning streak to 10 games. They will advance to the State Tournament. They drew the No. 5 seed and will take on the No. 4 seeded Canby Lancers (25-4) on Thursday, March 13th. The game will tipoff at 1:00 PM.
