Thunder’s Seasons Come to End

After the most successful season in both men’s and women basketball as Fond du Luc Tribal and Community College saw their seasons come to an end Saturday as both the men’s and women’s team were unable to qualify for the MCAC playoffs.

The FDLTCC Thunder women’s basketball team lost to Rainy River by a score of 75-68. The Thunder fought back from a 22 point deficit in the second half to pull within 4 points with 40 seconds left in the game, but were unable to regain the lead. Claudia Turner led the Thunder win scoring with 30 points, Shaelyn Halverson added 11 points, while Kami Diver finished with 10 points. The Lady Thunder finishes 3-9 in the conference, and 6-16 on the season.

The Thunder men’s basketball team defeated Rainy River 85-76. Danny Alston led the Thunder with 15 points, while DeAndre Bell & Kevin Gutter each chipped in a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Michael Hall & Nicholas Brown scored 10 points each. The Thunder men finish the season with a 7-19 record.

The Thunder women had a season of firsts, their first win, their first conference win, first wins back to back, and a weekend sweep during the season. Congratulations to co head coaches Keith Turner and Laura Sylvester.

The Thunder men also had their most successful season in school history as they finished with 7 wins on the season falling just short of the playoffs.
